Puertollano is the last high-speed stop in the province before Andalusia, with Avant trains to Ciudad Real and Madrid and stops by trains to Córdoba and Seville. It serves the city and the south of the province, where there is little other transport to the station.

Puertollano is the province's industrial city, with its petrochemical complex, and the main town of the hilly south that runs down to the Alcudia valley and the Sierra Madrona. It has its own hospital and high-speed station, so many trips connect with trains to Madrid or to Córdoba and Seville.

When demand peaks

• Holiday departures (Easter, summer and Christmas): At the start and end of the holidays, high-speed trains to Madrid and Andalusia and transfers to Barajas from all over the province fill up at the same time. The first flights and first trains of the day are the first to run out of space.

Tip: If you are going to the Almagro festival, say when the performance ends: pickup is set for when you come out, not for a rough time.
