Hotels and country houses in Almagro, the Lagunas de Ruidera and the Campo de Calatrava: how to offer transfers to guests arriving by AVE or at Barajas without a car
Accommodation in Almagro, the Lagunas de Ruidera and the Campo de Calatrava receives guests who arrive without a car: by AVE at Ciudad Real or Puertollano, by conventional train at Alcázar de San Juan or by plane at Barajas. Ciudad Real to Almagro is 31 km; Argamasilla de Alba to the lakes, 38 km, and there is no bus that fits the trains and no taxis waiting by the water. The property can offer the transfer without managing it: with its link or QR code the guest books, sees the fixed price before paying and the booking is attributed to the property, with the commission the platform publishes on its partners page; or reception books on the guest's behalf through the business account with one invoice a month. Almagro to Barajas, from 277,25 €.

How do guests without a car get to Almagro, Ruidera and the Campo de Calatrava?
The Almagro guest almost always arrives via the Ciudad Real AVE station, on the Avant shuttles from Madrid and the long-distance trains of the Andalusia line, and has 31 km left to the Plaza Mayor; anyone coming from Córdoba or Seville can get off at Puertollano, 66 km away. Almagro has a conventional train and a bus, but the timetables do not match the AVE trains arriving mid-morning or the early departures, and at Ciudad Real station there is nothing telling the visitor how to continue to the town. The result is the call to reception from the platform asking how to get there, which is exactly what this guide wants to avoid.
The country houses of Ruidera and Argamasilla de Alba are further from any line: the nearest train is the conventional one at Alcázar de San Juan, 76 km from the lakes, or the Ciudad Real AVE, further still; there is no bus to the natural park and in summer the parking by the busiest lakes runs short from mid-morning. And the foreign guest landing at Barajas has 223 km ahead if heading to Almagro, with the AVE as an alternative only if they accept changing train and station in Madrid with their luggage. The Barajas pickup is done with a name sign and the flight tracked: if it is delayed, the pickup moves with it.
How does a hotel or country house offer the transfer without becoming an agency?
The simplest formula is to recommend. With the partner sign-up the property receives a code and, with it, an attributed link, a QR code for the room, the reception or the house manual, and a code the guest types when booking. The guest goes in, enters origin, destination and time, sees the fixed price before paying and pays by card; the booking is attributed to the property, which is paid for the referral the commission the platform publishes on its partners page, invoiced separately with its VAT and paid once the service has been provided and charged. A referrer does not carry passengers: the transfer is provided by a licensed, insured operator, and the booking says before payment whether a taxi or a VTC will do it.
The second formula is booking on the guest's behalf, which is what a reception does with a client calling from the station platform or a group arriving together. That is what the business account is for: authorised people, cost centres and one invoice a month with every transfer and VAT itemised, and the property decides whether to charge it to the room account or absorb it as part of the service. The two formulas coexist: the same hotel can have the QR in the room for guests who book on their own and the account for what reception requests. The price calculator can be embedded in the hotel's own website with two lines of HTML, attribution included, so the guest sees the transfer price before arriving.
Which day trips with the return booked can be offered from the property?
The Campo de Calatrava is a car destination: Calatrava la Nueva castle, 34 km from Almagro, crowns a hill reached by a narrow road far from any bus stop; Alarcos Archaeological Park is 34 km away, above the Guadiana; Las Tablas de Daimiel, 46 km away, have no public transport to the visitor centre; and the volcanoes and Bolaños castle round off a day. The way to offer it is the outbound and return booked together, with the pickup time agreed at the castle gate or the visitor centre, because there are no taxis waiting there and no signal to improvise with. Each leg has its price in the calculator.
From the Ruidera country houses the usual trip is the reverse: down to Argamasilla de Alba, Peñarroya castle and the Montesinos cave, or on to Tomelloso, 44 km from the lakes, to visit a winery and a wine museum. And here the transfer with a driver has an argument the property can state plainly: anyone going to a tasting does not drive back. The same applies at harvest time, from late August to October, when Valdepeñas, Tomelloso and Socuéllamos open their wineries and hold their wine festivals and guests in the area want to go and return without their own car. The booking is made with the departure time from the winery and adjusted by letting us know if the visit runs long.
What changes during the Almagro Festival and the Ruidera summer?
In July, during the International Classical Theatre Festival, Almagro sells out its beds and the audience spreads across Ciudad Real, Miguelturra, Bolaños and Daimiel. Performances at the Corral de Comedias and the other venues end at night, when no bus is left, and the hotel in the capital hosting that audience can offer the transfer to the show with the pickup set for the end, not for an approximate time: Bolaños to the Corral de Comedias is 6 km, and from Ciudad Real, from 43,31 €. Reception should recommend booking days ahead, because festival nights concentrate demand and nobody can promise a car at any hour in that month.
There is a legal detail the Almagro property should know so as not to promise what it cannot: a trip within the municipality itself, from the hotel to the Corral de Comedias or to Almagro station, is urban and in Castilla-La Mancha belongs to the local taxi; the platform refers it to whoever can provide it and says so before confirming, which is why there is no route page from Almagro to the Corral. In Ruidera, July and August bring swimmers from all over La Mancha at weekends and guests arriving on the Alcázar train or the Ciudad Real AVE on Friday afternoon; from autumn to spring, the birdwatchers of Las Tablas want to leave early. These are predictable peaks, and the property's advice is the same for all of them: book ahead and with the real time of the train or flight.
How does the property sign up and what does it see in its dashboard?
Sign-up is done on the partner portal, which separates the relationships: hotels have their page, and holiday rentals and country houses have theirs, because with no front desk the link goes in the welcome message on the rental platform or in the house manual, next to the wifi password. Once the sign-up is approved the property's code appears, along with the attributed link and the QR ready to print; nothing needs integrating, and if the hotel has its own system there is an API with a key. The partner dashboard shows clicks, attributed bookings, the status of each transfer and the commission pending, approved and paid, with its settlement and invoice, so reception knows where each guest stands without calling anyone.
What the property should not expect, and what the platform does not tell it, is volume: nobody promises a number of guests or a car available at any hour, and in the small hours towards Barajas or on July nights, booking ahead is what decides. Nor is the property liable for the transport, which belongs to the licensed operator with passenger insurance, nor does it set the price, which is the one the guest sees before paying; with a written agreement a net rate can be arranged so the hotel sets its own, or another commission formula. What it does gain is a clear answer to the question most often asked on the Ciudad Real station platform and in the Barajas terminal: how do you get here without a car.
Frequently asked questions
How much commission does the property earn?
The commission the platform publishes on its partners page, which comes from the current settings; a written agreement can set another formula or a net rate. It is paid once the transfer has been provided and charged, and is invoiced separately with its VAT.
Who pays for the transfer, the guest or the hotel?
Your choice for each booking: the guest by card, from your link or QR, or the hotel through its business account with one invoice a month, which it then charges to the room or not.
Can you collect a guest at Barajas and bring them to Almagro?
Yes, with the flight number and a name sign in arrivals; the pickup follows the actual landing time. It is 223 km and the published "from" fare is 277,25 € per car; it is best to book days ahead.
Do we need to integrate anything into our booking system?
No. The link or QR generated when the sign-up is approved is enough, or the calculator on your website with two lines of HTML. If you have your own system and want more, there is an API with a key.
Can you take guests to Calatrava la Nueva and wait for them?
The outbound and return are booked as two services, with the pickup time agreed at the castle gate and adjustable by letting us know. Each leg has its price in the calculator; from Almagro it is 34 km.

How we write, where the figures come from and how we correct an error: editorial policy.
A summary of how a property can partner, not a contract: the commission, the sign-up conditions and the split between taxi and VTC are those published on the partner portal and in regional rules, and may change. No volume of bookings is promised to anyone. Distances and "from" fares are those of the route engine; the exact price comes from the calculator with date and time.
